Actress Alicia Silverstone has teamed up with Norfolk based animal rights group PETA.

Silverstone will be the latest starlet to say she'd rather go naked than wear fur. That's been an ongoing campaign for the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals.

She's appearing in a TV commercial in Houston, explaining why she believes a vegetarian diet is healthier.

PETA picked Houston because it ranks high on lists of cities with unhealthy eating habits.

Britney Spears flops at MTV awards

An out-of-shape, out-of-touch Britney Spears has delivered what was destined to be the most talked about performance of the MTV Video Music Awards - but for all the wrong reasons.

Kicking off the show with her new single, Gimme More, Spears looked bleary and unprepared, much like her recent tabloid exploits on the streets of Los Angeles.

She walked through her dance moves with little enthusiasm. It appeared she had forgotten the entire art of lip-synching. And, perhaps most unforgivable given her once-taut frame, she looked embarrassingly out of shape.

Even the celebrity-studded audience seemed bewildered. 50 Cent looked at Spears with a confused expression; Diddy, her new best friend, was expressionless. The VMAs was hoping to reinvent itself after suffering poor reviews and a decline in ratings over the last few years.

MTV moved the show to Las Vegas' Palms Casino, shortened the show from three hours to two, and changed the show's set-up to focus more on performances than awards. To that end, Justin Timberlake and Timbaland, Kanye West, Fall Out Boy and the Foo Fighters were each hosting four separate suite parties, where much of the show's performances would be held.

Thankfully, after Spears' dismal start and a lukewarm intro by comedian Sarah Silverman, the show rebounded. Timberlake's suite was packed with revellers, alcohol and eight lingerie-clad stripper types on raised platforms.

Before he accepted the Quadruple Threat of the Year award at his suite, the DJ summoned the partygoers to watch the monitor and go crazy if Timberlake won.

He did, they did, and Timberlake said: "I want to challenge MTV to play more videos!" Then he was whisked away by bodyguards and disappeared. He later won male artist of the year, and hit home on that point: "We don't want to see the Simpsons on reality television" - apparently he is not a fan of either Jessica or Ashlee's MTV shows.

Meanwhile, Rihanna won Monster Single of the Year for her ubiquitous hit Umbrella, and Beyonce and Shakira won Most Earthshattering Collaboration for Beautiful Liar. Beyonce's shimmering gold dress barely contained her top; immediately after she picked up her trophy, she asked an assistant backstage to help fix her dress, apparently to prevent a wardrobe malfunction.

Other performers were appearing on the show's main stage, in front of an industry-only audience seated at tables, like at the Golden Globes. Chris Brown gave one of the evening's most extravagant performances - a dance-centric, eye-popping spectacle that channelled Michael Jackson, right down to a brief Billie Jean imitation. Later he was joined by Rihanna, who performed her monster single.

Lindsay Lohan was caught with a fellow rehab patient in the bathroom and they weren’t cleaning toilets! The 21-year-old actress and a male patient was caught by staff members after they heard ‘moaning noises’ coming from a bathroom stall.

“Staff were alerted to the bathroom because there were strange noises coming from inside and two voices could be heard,” a source says. “When they opened the door, Lindsay was in a compromising position with the guy – who’s also at Cirque for drug rehab.”

Lohan reportedly was mad she had to clean the toilets and decided to do “something dirty.”

“Rumors spread like wildfire across the place that they’d been having sex. When staff found them they were all flustered and Lindsay’s hair was all over the shop,” the source adds. “She was livid that she was given the miserable task of cleaning the bogs so the theory was she’d do something really dirty in there.”

Lohan's cocaine charges may be dropped

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's office is disinclined to charge Lindsay Lohan with three drug-related felonies, a decision that could spare the troubled actress from a prison sentence, celebrity news outlet TMZ.com has reported.

The charges are connected with Lohan's two recent arrests for drunken driving, first in May when she crashed her car on Beverly Hills, and then in July when she was involved in a late-night car chase in Santa Monica.

TMZ, citing unidentified law enforcement sources, said the 21-year-old actress would likely face misdemeanour drunk-driving charges for both incidents. If found guilty of both, she would serve a minimum of four days in jail, TMZ.com said.

Legal experts have said Lohan could face up to three years behind bars if confronted with the full weight of the law.

Asked about the TMZ.com report, district attorney spokeswoman Sandi Gibbons said the office has not yet received the Santa Monica case and the Beverly Hills case remains under review.

"A public discussion of potential charges prior to a case being filed would be inappropriate and potentially unethical," she said.

Gibbons also denied TMZ.com's report that charges could be filed on Wednesday.

After the Beverly Hills incident, cocaine was found in Lohan's car. After the Santa Monica chase, she was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, cocaine possession, bringing a controlled substance into custody and driving on a suspended licence.

Lohan, who has done two rehab stints this year, has seen her promising film career plummet in recent years. Last month, she starred as stripper abducted by a sadistic killer in the box office bomb I Know Who Killed Me.

Lindsay Lohan’s problems are piling up her as her new film I Know Who Killed Me has been slammed by journalists in the US.

Just a week after her CRAZY CAR CHASE AND DRUG ARREST critics have roundly slated Lohan’s latest work in which she plays a stripper.

“No review could do justice to the monumental trashiness of this mess,” said the New York Daily News’ reviewer.

L.A Weekly called it “Wacko Hodgepodge” while another website said it was a “silly, sleazy movie.”

The reviews are likely to offer the wayward actress any comfort as she awaits multiple court cases.

Britney Spears divorces Kevin Federline

American pop star Britney Spears' marriage to Kevin Federline officially ended yesterday when their divorce was finalised.

During a hearing at the Superior Court in Los Angeles, custody of their children was also arranged, however further legal action over the care of their two boys is expected.

The 25-year-old singer married backup dancer Federline in 2004, less than a year after her first marriage to childhood friend Jason Alexander was annulled.

Federline left his partner, actress Shar Jackson, when she was pregnant with their second child to marry Spears.

Spears and Federline had two children – 22-month-old Sean Preston and 10-month-old Jayden James – before she filed for divorce in November 2006.

Since their separation, Spears’ increasingly erratic behaviour has made tabloid headlines. The singer, once feted as a Christian role model, shaved off her famous head of hair, attacked an SUV with an umbrella and climbed on stage at a strip club, before checking into a rehab clinic in February.

In the past fortnight Spears’ behaviour has again put her in the spotlight. During a photoshoot with OK! magazine, a disorientated Spears allowed her dog to defecate on a designer dress, and, after eating chicken, wiped her hands on another gown. She then walked out of the shoot early, taking with her $14,000 (£6,900) worth of clothes.

Ok! Editor-In-Chief Sarah Ivens later released a statement, saying: “OK! Magazine spent a heartbreaking day with Britney Spears and witnessed first-hand an emotional cry for help that will leave you shocked and sad.”

Spears became famous at 11 after landing a part on children's programme Mickey Mouse Club. She went on to record a string of number one hits and became one of America's highest-earning entertainers, fronting campaigns for Pepsi and Sketchers before releasing her own fragrance.

She is reported to be working on a comeback album.

But the 79-year-old considered her 23-day sentence last month the last straw.

The bodyguard, Cesar Julio Camera, 37, was accused of grabbing and punching one photographer and pushing another into a wall about 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the spa at the Wynn Las Vegas hotel-casino.

Camera was issued a misdemeanor battery summons after the scuffle.

No serious injuries resulted, police said. Neither Spears, 25, nor the children _ 22-month-old Sean Preston Federline and 10-month-old Jayden James Federline _ were reported to have been hurt.

"There were no signs of injuries to her or the children, nor is she listed as a victim," Las Vegas police Sgt. John Loretto said of the singer, songwriter, dancer and actress. She is listed in police reports as a witness, along with one man and five other women.

"The only person issued a citation was Ms. Spears' private security guard, Mr. Camera," Loretto said.

A representative at Jive Records, Spears' record label, did not immediately respond to messages seeking comment, and a Wynn resort spokeswoman declined comment.

A lawyer for Spears' estranged husband, Kevin Federline, also did not immediately respond to telephone and e-mail messages seeking comment on reports that Spears should not have had the children in Las Vegas. The couple are involved in divorce proceedings in California that according to several reports include restrictions on traveling out-of-state with the boys.

Police said the scuffle, which was captured on security videotape, occurred after Andrew Deetz, 24, and Kyle Henderson, 23, approached Spears and her entourage in a hallway and a hotel security guard told them to put their photo equipment away.

Henderson allegedly bumped Camera, who was holding Spears' son, Sean.

Spears screamed, Camera "shouldered" Henderson against a wall, gave the child to Spears, and ran after Henderson and Deetz, according to police reports.

Police said Camera punched Deetz, who showed officers a lump and abrasion on his forehead. Henderson was not reported to have been hurt.

Loretto said he did not know when Camera was scheduled to respond to the summons. He could face up to six months in county jail and a $1,000 fine if convicted.

Spears has been involved in several recent confrontations with paparazzi. She apologized earlier this month for attacking a photographer's car with an umbrella in February, saying she had been preparing to try out for a movie part and got carried away. The umbrella incident took place during a period in which she also shaved her head, got new tattoos and was seen partying hard in Los Angeles clubs.

Kardashian rose to fame, largely due to her friendship with Paris Hilton, but she became an internet and tabloid attraction due to a stolen sex tape featuring herself and at-the-time-boyfriend Ray J, brother of singer/actress Brandy.

Porn giant, Vivid Entertainment, later released the tape on DVD and titled it "Kim Kardashian Superstar" (see "Vivid Entertainment Releasing Ray J, Kim Kardashian Sex Tape"). But prior to its release, Kardashian filed suit in an attempt to block its release (see "Distribution Of Ray J/Kim Kardashian Sex Tape Halted").

This was the first public acknowledgement of the existence of the video, which she had previously denied.

Despite the pending lawsuit, adult retailers started offering the tape for pre-order in February. Vivid made the sex tape available online in March. In April, Kim settled with Vivid Entertainment (see "Kim Kardashian Drops Lawsuit Against Vivid Entertainment Regarding Sex Tape"), who paid $1 million to an unidentified source for the video, and dropped her suit for a reported $5 million.

Lohan arrested on suspicion of drunken driving and cocaine possession

The troubled saga of Lindsay Lohan took another turn Tuesday when police booked her on suspicion of drunken driving and cocaine possession after a frightened woman dialled 911 to report being chased by Lohan's SUV.

Less than two weeks out of rehab, with another drunken-driving case pending, Lohan had a blood-alcohol level of between 0.12 and 0.13 per cent when police found her about 1:30 a.m., Sgt. Shane Talbot said. The legal limit for driving in California is 0.08.

Lohan lawyer Blair Berk said her client had relapsed and was again receiving medical care. Her appearance Tuesday on "The Tonight Show" was cancelled.

"Addiction is a terrible and vicious disease," Berk said.

Authorities received a 911 call from the mother of Lohan's former personal assistant, said Lt. Alex Padilla. The assistant had just quit hours before, he said.

"The mother was afraid," Padilla said. "She wasn't quite sure what was going on, so she called the police saying she wanted to make sure everything was going to be OK."

The woman apparently didn't realize it was Lohan who was behind her, Padilla said.

Police said the woman drove her black Cadillac Escalade into the parking lot of Santa Monica's Civic Auditorium, about a block away from the Santa Monica Police Department, followed by Lohan driving a Yukon sport utility vehicle.

Authorities arrived and saw Lohan and the woman in "heated debate," Padilla said. Two males were with Lohan in the 2004 Yukon, including the owner of the vehicle, Padilla said. The mother had just one passenger and it wasn't her daughter, Padilla said, correcting earlier police statements.

Padilla said the 21-year-old Lohan was unable to walk a straight line, touch her nose or follow a small light with her eyes. Officers also detected the smell of alcohol, Padilla said.

The movie star was booked for investigation of driving under the influence and driving on a suspended licence, both misdemeanours, and possession of cocaine and transport of a narcotic, both felonies, authorities said.

During a prebooking search, police found cocaine in one of Lohan's pants pockets, Talbot said.

Several hours later, Lohan was released on $25,000 bail.

Padilla said he didn't know why Lohan was trying to catch the woman, whom he didn't name.

Last week, Lohan turned herself in to Beverly Hills police to face allegations of driving under the influence in connection with a Memorial Day weekend hit-and-run crash.

Lohan was about a month shy of the legal drinking age when she lost control of her 2005 Mercedes SL-65 convertible and crashed into a curb and shrubs on Sunset Boulevard, police said. Lohan's blood-alcohol level at the time of that crash was above the legal limit, authorities said, but they wouldn't disclose how high it was. She also faces a misdemeanour charge of hit and run in that case.

A court date was scheduled in that case for Aug. 24.

Lohan left Promises Malibu Alcohol and Drug Rehab Treatment Facility on July 13, after a stay of more than six weeks. She had also checked into rehab for substance abuse treatment in January.

When she left, Lohan agreed to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet, publicist Leslie Sloane Zelnik said.

"In part she is wearing the bracelet so there are no questions about her sobriety if she chooses to go dancing or dining in a place where alcohol is served," Zelnik said in a statement at the time.

Lohan - whose latest movie, "I Know Who Killed Me," is coming out Friday - had been tested daily in order to support her sobriety, Berk said.

"Unfortunately, late yesterday I was informed that Lindsay had relapsed," Berk said. "The bracelet has now been removed. She is safe, out of custody and presently receiving medical care."

Lohan's estranged father, Michael Lohan, said he was worried about his daughter even though they have a "troubled relationship." Kate Moss is terrified intimate videos she made with ex-boyfriend Pete Doherty will end up on the internet.

The supermodel, who dumped the troubled rocker earlier this month, made eight video diaries with Pete during their turbulent relationship.

After their messy split, Kate found six of the tapes but is concerned that Pete, who is a self-confessed drug addict, could sell the missing two.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "There are still some bits and pieces floating about of Pete with Kate. She has got rid of most of it. Six out of eight tapes have been destroyed.

"But she wanted to bury the lot before he could humiliate her by selling them or putting them on the internet."

Some of the clips have already been posted on the web by the couple before they separated. One short video featured the pair singing together and the Babyshambles frontman serenading a scantily-clad Kate.

The source added: "When those clips came on the net, Kate could obviously decide with Pete what was going to be made public.

"Now, with the remaining two tapes, she has no say."

Last week, it was reported that Kate had changed all her phone numbers to stop Pete contacting her.

A source said: "Pete was still phoning Kate and in the end it was too much for her.

"Kate is determined to wipe the slate clean and that means never speaking to him again."

The 33-year-old model was left devastated after Pete allegedly cheated on her with South African model Lindi Hingston last month.

Kate - who has a four-year-old daughter, Lila Grace, from a previous relationship - ended her two-year relationship with the musician and threw him out of her north London home before changing the locks.

"American Idol" runner-up Katharine McPhee will make her studio acting debut as a pregnant hippie in an untitled comedy starring Anna Faris.

McPhee, Emma Stone, Rumer Willis, Kat Dennings and comedian Dana Goodman have signed on to co-star in the feature, which is being directed by Fred Wolf for Columbia Pictures and Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Prods.

The script, by "Legally Blonde" writers Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith, centers on a Playboy bunny (Faris) who gets kicked out of the Playboy Mansion and becomes the house mother to the lamest sorority on campus.

The casting fills in the major roles of the sorority sisters and solidifies the project as the first female-driven comedy to come out of the production company.

Stone will play the president of the sorority; Willis will play an insecure young woman who wears a back brace even though she could have had it removed years ago; Dennings will portray a women's studies feminist; and Goodman will play the sister who keeps switching majors and should have graduated years ago.

Also cast is Sarah Wright ("Made of Honor"), who will play a conniving young woman from a popular sorority.

The comedy marks the second role McPhee has booked in as many months; in June, she nabbed a role in "The Last Caller," a dark romantic-comedy independent film. Her casting in the Faris project, along with "Idol" finalist Jennifer Hudson's acting turn in "Dreamgirls," shows that "Idol" is becoming a fertile ground for finding acting talent as well as vocal talent.

Stone is shooting "The Rocker" opposite Rainn Wilson and will be seen in Columbia's "Superbad" as Jonah Hill's love interest.

Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, continues to make her push into the family business. She recently was cast in "The Sophomore" for the Yari Film Group.

Eva Longoria and Tony Parker became husband and wife today in a 45-minute civil ceremony in Paris’ fourth-district city hall. The service was attended only by the couple’s parents and members of their immediate families. “The couple wanted to keep this one very low-key and intimate,” says an insider.

A second ceremony and party, with about 250 guests, takes place tomorrow — and Paris is crawling with celebrities due to attend!

Here’s what they did on Friday, according to the insider:

• Jessica Alba and boyfriend Cash Warren spent the day shopping all over Paris, and they enjoyed a romantic walk down the Champs-Elysées, happily blending in with the crowd.

• Teri Hatcher took her daughter, Emerson, 9, to a few of city’s gorgeous parks and gardens.

• Mario Lopez and his girlfriend, Karina Smirnoff, left the wedding party’s hotel, the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme, early in the morning to go sightseeing and shopping. They returned four hours later, tired but happy after their excursion.

On Friday night, the insider says, Eva and Tony rehearsed their wedding ceremony at the Church of Saint Germain l'Auxerrois — where they will walk down the aisle at 4 p.m. Saturday — and then hosted a candlelit dinner for their family members, closest friends and the wedding party at the Cristal Room Baccarat restaurant.

According to the insider, Eva and Tony had planned to call it an early night. “Their big moment is so close,” says the insider, “and Eva knows she has to get a good night’s rest!”

Live Earth went down on Saturday and boy did the stars come out for the big event. Concert venues ranged from London to South Africa, Tokyo to New York and everywhere in between (including Antarctica, at which a few of the resident scientists performed), raising awareness about global warming. Eco-friendly stars like Cameron & Leo (looking very hot, btw) made cameos as well as some new faces on the environmental scene. "Transformers," a special-effects movie extravaganza based on popular toys, earned $27.5 million during its first full day of release and appears on track to dominate the weekend box office, according to estimates on Wednesday by distributor Paramount Pictures.

After earning $8.8 million from Monday night screenings across the United States and Canada, the movie pulled in $27.5 million the next day -- a sum billed by Paramount as the biggest Tuesday haul for a movie.

Directed by Michael Bay, a filmmaker known for such spectacles such as "Armageddon" and "Pearl Harbor," "Transformers" is based on the Hasbro Inc. toys that turn into alien robots.

In the film, relative unknowns Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox star as youngsters befriended by Autobots, the good aliens who are being battled by the evil Decepticons.

Despite its success, "Transformers"' take falls considerably short of the one-day record of $59.8 million set by "Spider-Man 3" two months ago, on a Friday.

The previous record for a Tuesday was set last month, when "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" earned $15.7 million, according to Viacom Inc.-owned Paramount.

Last weekend's champion, Walt Disney Co.'s "Ratatouille," earned $7.9 million on Tuesday, according to data supplied by a rival studio. A Disney official was not immediately available for comment. Because of the July 4 holiday in the United States, most studios did not report midweek figures.

The only other new Tuesday release was "License To Wed." Data for the critically maligned Robin Williams comedy will be issued on Sunday, according to the film's distributor, Warner Bros. The studio is a unit of Time Warner Inc.

WWE superstar Chris Benoit, 40, his wife Nancy and young son were found dead in their Atlanta home early this afternoon, this according to WWE.com.

No further details regarding the tragedy have been released. Benoit was scheduled to appear at a pay-per-view event last night ... WWE said that there was a "family emergency" that prevented him from being there.

Benoit, a former World Heavyweight Champ, wreaked havoc with his signature move, the "Crippler Crossface."

The incident comes on the heels of the shocking death of former WWE wrestler "Sensational" Sherri Martel, and the supposed "assassination" of WWE head honcho Vince McMahon. TMZ has learned that the WWE is scrapping all references to the McMahon death storyline on tonight's episode of "Raw.'

According to the official WWE website, tonight's "Raw" will serve as a tribute to the wrestling great.

Police are investigating the incident.

There has been growing speculation that at 44 years-young, Demi Moore is pregnant with Ashton Kutcher’s first biological child. The suggestion, based on Demi “showing off her bump at a film premiere in New York,” has also been aided by the couple’s recent talks of wanting a bigger family.

A source was quoted in Britain's The Sun newspaper as saying: "After she was transferred back, Paris refused to eat. Staff became worried as she seems very thin with her bones poking out. She was also very weak and lethargic.

"They threatened to put her on an intravenous drip to rehydrate her and give her some nourishment unless she started eating. She has since managed to get a little food down, but doctors are closely monitoring her.

"She looks very pale. She's not allowed to wear make-up and her hair is matted and frizzy from washing it with soap as there's no shampoo."

Paris, 26, is reportedly only allowed to leave her cell for an hour a day, and the only human contact she has is with the doctors and three deputies who monitor her.

The "medical condition" the blonde was said to be suffering from has still not been officially disclosed, but was earlier reported as Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD).

According to a source, the ‘Stripped’ singer has been announcing the arrival of her baby to friends.

"She`s been telling friends, she has to be three months now, because she`s announcing it, the source revealed.

Until now, the 26-year-old has been fuelling her pregnancy rumours by keeping mum about her expected motherhood.

Aguilera is pregnant with hubby Jordan Bratman’s child, and the reports came out when the couple visited New York’s Maternal Fetal Medicine Association, which is known for its state-of-the-art ultrasounds and expertise in high-risk pregnancies.

The ‘Dirty’ singer also looked to be donning a small bump while shopping in Soho.

Lohan called off plans for a two-day July 2 bash at Pure shortly after checking into rehab last month--but club bosses reserved the right to keep advertising the celebration, so that fans could toast the troubled Mean Girls star.

Julia Roberts has welcomed her third child, a boy named Henry Daniel Moder.

Henry was born Monday in Los Angeles. He weighed 8 1/2 pounds, said Roberts’ publicist, Marcy Engelman.

"All of the Moders are doing great," Engelman said in a statement.

Roberts, 39, and her husband, 38-year-old cinematographer Danny Moder, have two-year-old twins, Hazel and Phinnaeus.

The couple were married in July 2002 at Roberts’ home in Taos, N.M.

Roberts won the best actress Oscar in 2001 for Erin Brockovich. Her screen credits also include Steel Magnolias and Pretty Woman.

Beard, 25, is making waves, and she welcomes it.

"It's doesn't bother me at all. Not at all," she says of the criticism that she crosses the line in the issue. "Since I was 13 years old, there has been stuff written about me. And everybody is entitled to their own opinion."

Suffice to say, the opinions are rampant. Such as this one from Chicago newspaper columnist Carol Slezak: "Women have made a lot of progress, but equality is still a long way off. And every time an athlete decides to trade on her sex appeal, she sets everyone back. Beard had a choice. She chose to be selfish."

Yes, that's one opinion. Why is posing for Playboy considered a selfish act? Remember, this woman has achieved at the highest level of her sport, unlike some female athletes who have capitalised on their sexuality without even coming close to winning a title. We all know who they are, so no names need to be mentioned.

Critics can't say magazines such as Playboy are Beard's only outlet for recognition. She doesn't have to rely on sexy - and widely controversial - magazine covers to camouflage a lack of talent.

The woman from Venice with the exotic "really, really light blue Beard family eyes" has two gold medals, four silvers and one bronze in her vault of bling. So Beard, literally, can strike a winning pose.

She acknowledged that being a winner helps her cause, despite the heavy flak from some corners. "It gives me credibility," Beard says. "It does help my case - that I have those Olympic medals."

And she believes she's a pioneer of sorts. "I'm breaking down barriers," she says. "Playboy is an amazing magazine. I think it's an honour to be in it."

So there. What's the problem?

And here is another opinion from the other side. "I've had a lot of women come up to me and tell me what I did was amazing," Beard says. "They say we're seeing a healthy body portrayed as beautiful.

"I would say 75 per cent of the people who have approached me like that are women. I love it. Young mums and college girls, they think it's a wonderful thing."

Paris Hilton leaves medical facility, back in jail

After spending several days in a prison medical facility, hotel heiress Paris Hilton has gone back to a regular women's jail.

The 26-year-old left the Twin Towers prison and was back Thursday in the Lynwood facility where she had suffered an earlier breakdown, tmz.com reported.

Hilton was in stable condition, police spokesperson Steve Whitmore said.

Hilton's release from jail to home detention last week due to medical problems provoked such a public outcry that a judge forced her to return behind bars - albeit to the hospital section.

She is serving a 45-day sentence for breaking her probation by driving on a suspended license. She could be released after 23 days for good behaviour on June 25.

A study by the Los Angeles Times showed Hilton's sentence is 80 percent longer than those for similar instances in Los Angeles. In the past year, those with similar offences served an average of four days out of a 14-day sentence.

Lindsay Lohan to be Dropped by Fashion Label

Lindsay Lohan is reportedly set to be dropped as the face of a major fashion label after checking into rehab.

The troubled actress, who is currently being treated for alcoholism and drug abuse in Malibu's Promises clinic, was set to star in the 2007 autumn campaign for fashion house Jill Stuart and shot the advertisements in April.

However, the Japanese branch of the company who funded the campaign are said to be furious with Lindsay's recent behavior and no longer want her involved.

A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "The Japanese licensee paid for it, and they wanted to pull the plug.

"The day Lindsay appeared on the front page of the newspaper crashed out in the front seat of the SUV, the Japanese told Ron Curtis (Jill Stuart's CEO) they no longer wanted to be involved. And they are the ones who financed the campaign."
However, Curtis insists the international campaign will still go ahead as planned.

He said: "The ads are running as planned, and we have the utmost support for Lindsay and her rehabilitation, and she is doing great. They will also appear in all of the major lifestyle fashion magazines for fall in Asia and the U.S."

Meanwhile, the 'Mean Girls' star is being sued over a 2005 accident in which she crashed her car into a parked van.

The $3.6 million lawsuit has been filed by Grandeur Incorporated, who claim Lindsay plowed into their company van as she made an illegal U-turn in Beverly Hills.

Rumors of a pregnant Christina Aguilera have been a dime a dozen over the past year, but all have been eventually disproven. Now TMZ.com reports that the pint-sized pop princess visited a posh maternity doctor in New York on Thursday.

Aguilera was "casually dressed and sporting dark sunglasses. Xtina and hubby Jordan Bratman had their driver drop them off at NY's Maternal Fetal Medicine Association - a practice known for their expertise in high-risk pregnancies and state-of-the-art ultrasounds," read a post on the high traffic gossip news website.

After the visit with the baby doctor, the couple reportedly high-tailed it down to trendy Capitale for a bite to eat.

We're all happy for Aguilera if in fact she's carrying a bun in the oven, but curious as to why she would need to see a doctor that specializes in "high-risk" pregnancies. Her reps refused to comment on the topic to TMZ.com.

Let's hope it's much a do about nothing and that the couple have as much success with a new baby as it's so clearly evident they are with their marriage.

Paris Hilton is finally getting a clue that the public is unimpressed with her jail drama. The locked up and reportedly mentally fragile heiress has issued the following statement in an attempt to do some serious damage control.

“Today I told my attorneys not to appeal the judge’s decision. While I greatly appreciate the Sheriff’s concern for my health and welfare, after meeting with doctors I intend to serve my time as ordered by the judge.

This is by far the hardest thing I have ever done. During the past several days, I have had a lot of time to reflect and have already learned a bitter, but important lesson from this experience.

As I have said before, I hope others will learn from my mistake. I have also had time to read the mail from my fans. I very much appreciate all of their good wishes and hope they will keep their letters coming.

I must also say that I was shocked to see all of the attention devoted to the amount of time I would spend in jail for what I had done by the media, public and city officials. I would hope going forward that the public and the media will focus on more important things, like the men and women serving our country in Iraq, Afghanistan and other places around the world.”

So Paris is going to shut up and do her time. At least until her next nervous breakdown.

Paris Hilton Ordered Back to Prison, Screams ‘It's not right’

Singer and socialite Paris Hilton arrived at the court house two hours late. Law officials say that the delay was caused by the Sheriff’s department refusing to allow the "judge’s order" to pick up Hilton. The Sheriff reportedly believes that the police department has the exclusive right to make decisions where Paris is concerned.

The 26-year-old Hilton was already weeping when she was led into Superior Court Judge Michael T. Sauer’s courtroom and it didn’t get any better for the hotel heiress.

Sauer was obviously upset with Sheriff Lee Baca’s decision to allow Hilton to serve the remainder of her sentence at home. Baca had cited a “medical condition” as reason for allowing Paris Hilton’s early release but Sauer wasn’t buying it.

“I at no time condoned the actions of the sheriff and at no time told him I approved the actions, at no time did I approve the defendant being released from custody to her home,” Sauer stated during the proceedings.

Hilton, who had reported to the Century Regional Detention Facility on Sunday, served three full days in jail but had been credited with five after being let out early Thursday morning.

Her release incensed Assistant City Attorney Dan F. Jeffries who claimed, “Her release after only three days erodes confidence in the judicial system.”

After several attorneys from both sides of the case spoke Sauer laid down his ruling, “The defendant is remanded to county jail to serve the remainder of her 45-day sentence. This order is forthwith.”

With that Hilton broke down and screamed and left the courtroom yelling "It's not right!". As her daughter was led out to serve the remainder of her sentence Hilton’s mom openly wept.

Paris Hilton was released from a Los Angeles County jail early yesterday because of an unspecified medical problem and will fulfill the reminder of her sentence in home confinement, a sheriff's spokesman said.

The 26-year-old hotel heiress was sent home shortly after 2 am fitted with an electronic monitoring bracelet. She had spent five days at the Century Regional Detention Facility in suburban Los Angeles for violating probation in an alcohol-related reckless driving case.

"I can't specifically talk about the medical situation other than to say that, yes, it played a part in this," said sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore.

Hotel heiress and reality TV personality Hilton, 26, had been sentenced to 45 days behind bars, but had been expected to serve 23 days because of state rules allowing shorter sentences for good behaviour.

"Paris Hilton has been fitted for an ankle bracelet and put under house arrest, after authorities determined to release Hilton from prison due to medical reasons," Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said.

Faced with some raised eyebrows and tough questioning, Whitmore stressed that she had not been set free, but rather "reassigned" to serve her sentence at home.

"After extensive consultation with medical personnel included doctors here at CRDF (jail), it was determined that Paris Hilton would be reassigned to our community-based alternative to custody electronic monitoring programme," the spokesman said.

'American Idol' judge Paula Abdul's tearful outburst against her former rep has been caught on tape.

The choreographer/singer has hit out at her former rep Howard Bragman for treating her badly.

Abdul also revealed that she is suffering from severe medical problems and is not getting good treatment from 'people who are supposed to be taking care of things'.

In an audiotape obtained by Page Six, the 44-year-old insisted that she is going through a tough time in her life.

"I've never been treated this way and I've never seen anybody treated this way. This is just too much to stomach. You will be treated better starting right now. I've been going through tremendous amounts of a difficult time," New York Post quoted Abdul, as saying.

"I'm being tested. All I've ever wanted in my life is to be treated fairly and be treated with kindness. And I've never in my entire career been treated this way. The people who are supposed to take care of these things do not. I have to clean up after them everywhere they go. And I'm tired of it," she said

Abdul hit out at Bragman for her calling her a 'whining bitch' and a 'loser'.

"I do a call-in every week for OK! Magazine on 'American Idol.' Because of my brilliant job, they want to do a cover on me. I'm being told by Howard Bragman that I'm too old and no one will ever want to do a cover," she said.

"I don't understand how this man can call me a whining bitch. I've never in my life been called a whining bitch and a loser," she added.

However, Bragman has denied revealing why he stopped working for the former pop star.

"I'm not going into it. I'll stand by my reputation if she'll stand by hers," Bragman said.

Abdul's current rep David Brokaw, has although not returned calls to comment.

Producers of Australia's 'Big Brother' Refuse to Tell Contestant Her Father Is Dead

The furor surrounding Australia's version of "Big Brother" — where producers are refusing to tell a contestant her father is dead — is growing.

Hot houseguest Emma Cornell, a model from Adelaide, is unaware that her dad, Raymond Cornell, died earlier this month after battling cancer. Father and daughter were estranged until recently.

News that Emma was being kept in the dark surfaced last week but the pressure on producers to do something about it is mounting — not least because they worry that word will get to her by some other means.

The show's producers have so far refused to break the traditional "BB" ban on letting contestants hear any news from the outside world — including the death of a family member.

Two studio-audience members this week held up a sign reading, "Emma, Your Dad is Dead," before being hustled out and barred for good.

If you watched or read the news about Rosie O’Donnell’s last week on the view, you undoubtedly read many headlines about “Rosie’s Big Fight With Elisabeth” in which Rosie was portrayed as angry and unpatriotic, which ultimately led to her leaving the show. However, if you have watched the actual footage of the discussion that occurred on 05/23/07, you can see that it was Elisabeth who was the aggressor throughout the entire discussion.

Elisabeth began by interrupting Joy with sarcastic comments as Joy attempted to provide some facts about the George Bush presidency, and then continued as Elisabeth angrily defended her refusal to respond to the Republican pundits who incorrectly said that Rosie called the U.S. troops terrorists. As the discussion progressed, Rosie repeatedly tried to de-escalate the situation and not get into a disagreement. However, Elisabeth angrily continued in her blind defense of this administration and her criticisms of Rosie’s views. While many have portrayed this fight as one over politics, it was really a fight about friendship and Elisabeth’s refusal to support Rosie by denouncing what these pundits were attempting to say about her.

It is unfortunate that Rosie chose to leave The View after this incident, when it is Elisabeth who should be removed from the show for her angry and hateful tirade. Elisabeth has consistently used The View as a platform to perpetuate inaccuracies about the Iraq War and has shown a blatant disregard for the feelings of others who disagree with her.

While the purpose of The View is for different views to be expressed, each co-host should be able to express their views without being attacked by a closed-minded co-host who blindly refuses to listen to facts and uses the show to angrily spout propaganda.

This petition calls for ABC to fire Elisabeth Hasselbeck from The View to ensure that all reasonable views can continue to be heard.
